Chris and I went to Austin to celebrate my birthday. The girls went to stay with some of their favorite people, Grandma and Grandpa. We took our time getting down there and by the time we arrived, we decided a six-pack of beer on the balcony of our hotel was enough excitement for us. Really, we were planning on 10 uninterrupted hours of sleep and why waste that out at some bar.
We slept until 10:00 and then decided to head out for brunch at Kerbey Lane. We had Tomato Pie. I did not know you could make a pie out of tomatoes but it was delicious. It had Feta, kalamata olives, tomatoes and the flakiest herbed piecrust I have ever eaten. We also enjoyed their fabulous migas and raspberry pancakes but the tomato pie won the dine-off.
We visited the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum and learned all about our fabulous state. It has many interactive exhibits that entertained us for a few hours. We then left and went to get ice cream as it is required when walking around in 100 degree heat.
We then went to watch the bats leave the Congress Avenue Bridge heading out for a night of mosquito eating. While waiting on the bats we were entertained by fire throwing jugglers.

The Bats made their exit and we were off to Z Tejas for Dinner. We had a delicious Chorizo stuffed Pork Loin and then walked to the Warehouse District for a few drinks.
After sleeping in, we had Lunch at Freddies before leaving Austin and heading to Round Rock for some stride rite shopping on our way home.
